That’s the stuff!
Who has two thumbs and owns InYourGoing.com?
This guy!
I’m actually a little proud of this one…
Back around ’08 I decided to get away from Blogspot and set up this blog in its current form. I decided on the domain inyourgoing.com (the reason has to do with theology I no longer accept, but I think “in your going” is vague enough that I can still get by), but someone else already had it (as a blog, oddly enough). So, I opted, for inyourgoing.org, which was available.
About a year later, I got an email from someone saying that they’d recently purchased inyourgoing.com — I guess the original owner decided to not renew — and they’d be willing to sell it to me for $500. Needless to say, that’s more than I cared to spend, and I was perfectly happy with my .org domain.
Well, I’m guessing that person couldn’t sell it and also let it expire, as I was able to pick it up Sunday for $11! Sometimes, a little patience pays off.
As for this blog, I have plans to make it a little more useful than the current random musings and songs that are stuck in my head format, but I’ll have to see how that pans out.
Classic Video Friday: BRING THA NOIZE!
I’m going to be a little more self indulgent this time around…
Back when I was in high school (’89-’93) I was a huge Anthrax fan. On top of that, I really dug Public Enemy (how awesome is Chuck D?). So, when thos two groups got together to do this, I thought it was the most amazing song ever recorded:
Old hat nowadays, but groundbreaking back in ’91!
Classic Video Friday: A Handful Of Christmas Videos
Yeah, I hate Christmas music. Absolutely despise it. However, just to avoid being “that guy,” here are a few I’m okay with.
Wham! Last Christmas
Okay, all my cards on the table, I’m not 100% sold on this one. However, I can’t get it out of my head as of late. On top of that, how awesome is George Michael’s hair?
As far as I’m concerned, Run-DMC have never made a bad song. So, naturally, this is one of my favorite Christmas tunes:
So, technically not a music video, but still the best Christmas song EVER. There’s just no topping “Soul Brotha #1!”
Well, This’ll Be Stuck In My Head Most Of The Day: “A Country Boy Can Survive”
Everyone has a list of songs that will get stuck in their head after hearing even a little snippet. This classic by ol’ Bocephus is one of those songs for me. I’ll be walking around the rest of the day singing, “I’d like to spit some Beech Nut in that dude’s eye…”
Classic Video Friday: Heaven’s On Fire
YOU WANTED THE BEST, YOU GOT THE BEST!!!
For some odd reason, I’ve always been a Kiss fan. They’ve had a lot of years where they were good, and a lot where they were bad (late 80s/early 90s was a dark time). However, they always manage to entertain.
So, this week I give you a little something from my skating rink years:
NOVA: Dogs Decoded
I’m not in the habit of posting television shows, but I found this episode of NOVA fascinating!
Watch the full episode. See more NOVA.
Classic Video(s) Friday: OMD vs. The Outfield
Yeah, I couldn’t decide, so you get both:
1) Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark – “If You Leave”
Before you ask, that is how “maneuvers” is spelled in the group name. Obviously, they aren’t American.
Anyway, this comes from the soundtrack of one of my favorite 80s teen movies (a favorite because I can totally relate to Duckie). This song played at the end of the movie during the school dance. A dance that, in my opinion, had a horrible DJ. This song played for 15 minutes straight! Good tune, though.
One of the best songs of the 80s, and the video makes me miss my mullet!
Classic Video Friday: “Come As You Are”
Yeah, I’ve revised a little.
This is a solo hit from Peter Wolf, best known as the lead singer for the J. Geils Band. It’s one of those songs that, while pretty much a forgotten hit of the 80s, still seems to jump into my head from time to time. Not sure why.
Enjoy!
